Keeping babies and toddlers in the full shade of a suitable canopy or tree is a great way to help keep little ones safe in the sun. That isn't always possible, particularly if you're out and about with a pushchair, but products like Outlook's Shade a Babe offer 50+ SPF protection. It's a fine mesh which completely covers the pushchair and there is a Shade A Babe Single Pushchair Cover and a Shade A Babe Double Pushchair cover for twin buggies.
Parasols can provide some shade, but remember children can still burn from reflected light and parasols offer relatively poor sun protection, and the Shade A Babe is a much better option... indoor shade is even better!

- Very small babies should be kept in complete shade.
- Don't judge how safe your children are by how red their skin is; skin can take hours to fully show sunburn.
- Red-headed, the pale skinned and those with freckles are most at risk.
- Find a wide-brimmed hat which your child wants to wear and encourage them to wear it - even on less sunny days.
- See SunSmart for great baby and child sun safe tips.
And finally::Don't forget that you can burn in the sun too! Many parents spend time making sure that their children are protected from the sun and forget their own sun protection!
